Each week has a highly anticipated theme and inspirational projects that build towards a big finale. We take field trips for students to research real applications for their projects in Lab.
Week 1:
LEGO World | June 6th – June 10th
Guest: Sacramento Brick Builders
Have you ever wanted to live in a LEGO world? Now is your chance! Collaborate
with your team and use engineering concepts to become architects in designing
and building your very own LEGO city. You will make your own LEGO character
and use your imagination to create a whole new universe.
Week 2:
Camp Rock | June 13th – June 17th
Musical Guest
Come rock with us! This week we will learn about the energy produced from
vibrations that become the sounds we hear, from rocking out on the drums to
plucking the strings of a guitar. By making your own music, you will discover
the properties of sound, the way sound travels, and the senses involved in how we
perceive sound.
Week 3:
Galaxy Explorers | June 20th – June 24th
Field trip: Museum of Science & Curiosity
Calling all space explorers and adventurers. Discover the planets, stars, and the
vast galaxies that exist beyond our Earth while we learn about constellations and
black holes using chemistry and physics. Put on your space helmets and
come explore the solar system with us.
Week 4:
Animal Planet | June 27th – July 1st
Field trip: Folsom Zoo
It’s a jungle in here! Join us on an adventure as we learn about animals, their
habitats and the adaptations that help them survive. From the arctic to the desert to
the grasslands, campers will transport themselves to different environments to
explore life science and the nature of the animal kingdom.
Week 5:
Harry Potter | July 5th – July 8 th (4 days)
Guest: Magician
You’re a wizard, camper! Come explore the world of wizardry and sorcery right
here at Lab. Build your own magic wand, vanish with an invisible cloak, and make
some delicious butter beer – all starting with a House Sorting Ceremony, of course.
Which house do you think you will be in?
Week 6:
Spy Kids | July 11th – July 15th
Field trip: Escape Room
Can you crack the case? Build your leadership skills while you lead a team
of spies to embark on the ultimate quest to solve clues and puzzles. Secret agents
will complete spy training, discover messages in invisible ink, make their way
through a laser obstacle course and create disguises to take on their assignments.
Week 7:
Star Wars Robotics | July 18th – July 22nd
Surprise Guests
Be one with the force and join us for an exciting week of robotics and coding.
Back by popular demand, we will be building our very own lightsabers to use in
the fight against evil. This year we will also explore coding basics with special
teachers who will help us discover what makes droids like R2D2 tick.
Week 8:
Around the World in 5 Days | July 25th – July 29th
Field trip: iFly
Travel to the innovative wonders of the world right here from camp using Virtual
Reality to see different countries every day. We will explore different foods and
cultures from around the world while incorporating traditions and language. How
many stamps can you collect in your passport? We’ll finish the summer off with
festivities from around the world!
